The Morgan silver dollar is known as the first oldest silver dollar which was minted in United States after the demonetization of silver era. It was set by congress in the Coinage Act of 1873. The Morgan dollars were first brought for production in 1878 and continued to be minted until 1904.  Because of Morgan's size and silver content, in 1921 they were minted again. The Morgan Silver dollars are publicly seen as the best silver coin manufacturing at its time. The Morgan is the most valuable of silver coins in the United States which has been minted. Among the collectors, the 1878 Morgan silver Dollar is believed to have the highest value for collection and investment

The Morgan silver was originally designed at a half dollar. In order to be minted on the Dollar value, the coins were needed to be larger sizes and the written words "half dollar" were replaced with the word "one dollar". It has diameter of 38.1 millimeters. It is really a large and heavy coin for  modern day coin standards. The Morgan silver dollar has weight of 26.73 grams. At near to 27 grams, this is not a coin which we really want to carry around in our pocket.

The silver coin of Morgan type was made at some mints. They were Philadelphia, Carson City, and San Francisco. The minted coins are show by a mint mark. It is located below the eagle and clearly seen above the letters of D and O from the word of DOLLAR. It is questionable to see the fact that only Philadelphia coin doesn't have a mint mark. According to coin collectors, the mint mark of CC which represents Carson City has the highest value and most hunted in this modern era. The metal content of Morgan dollar is minted in 90% silver and 10% copper. This means that the Morgan silver coin is worth of $26.57 based off its silver content itself

The Morgan coin Dollar was originally designed by  a United States Mint Assistant. He was  George T. Morgan and That the name Morgan Dollars was derived from. George T. Morgan was born in Birmingham, England in 1845. Young Morgan studied in England. He came to the United States in 1876. He was hired as an assistant at the Mint under William Barber. Soon He designed several coin varieties such as; the 1877 half dollars, the 1879 Schoolgirl dollar, the 1882 Shield Earring coins and the Columbian Exposition half dollar. He also designed the $100 Gold Union coin which was never released.Eventually, However the Morgan dollar is known as the most famous design of his work and the edition of 1878 Morgan silver dollar is believed to have the highest value today.
